How to Get a Loaner Car From a Dealership

voice recognition device products

You may be able to borrow a car from the dealership to help you pick up your new vehicle. To obtain a loaner, you will need some paperwork. This may include your driver's license, information about your insurance, and registration. Most times, you can obtain a loaner vehicle within a matter of hours. These are some of its benefits and costs.

Benefits

Offering a loaner vehicle is one of the best ways to attract new customers. By offering a loaner car, your dealership can win over new customers in your area. It is similar to the vehicle you already have. You can use loaner cars to show off new technology, refinements to your interior, or increase fuel efficiency. Many dealerships leave sales numbers on the loaners. However, other dealers offer this service as a complimentary option.

Another advantage of a loaner automobile is the fact that you can save money. Often, dealerships will brand them as a used car, saving you hundreds or even thousands of dollars. The staff of dealerships take good care of courtesy cars even though they don't have to be registered. They are maintained regularly, and any damage is repaired. You can expect the loaner car to perform well. While you wait for your new car to arrive, your courtesy vehicle can be driven while the car is being repaired.

Costs

Customers are able to borrow a car for free to help offset the cost associated with servicing their vehicle. Customers who are able to test drive the vehicle will approve work more often than customers who don't normally consider it. A recent survey found that 78% of mass-market brands owners view loaner cars as a way to test the waters. The next new-car sale could be in the service department. Here, they may be more likely approve work that is not their specialty.

Negotiate the mileage limit in order to avoid paying more to borrow a car. Some dealers charge 15 cents a mile which is fair. However, the vehicle may not be in as good of condition as you'd like, so it's important to negotiate the price. Once you've agreed to the price, you can submit a finance application, bank check, or cash to complete the sale.

Types

There are two types of loaner cars available from a dealership: courtesy cars and used cars that have been reconditioned. These vehicles are typically more expensive than rentals, but they can save you hundreds or thousands of bucks. Furthermore, these loaner cars are reconditioned, and have been maintained by the dealership. As a result, they maintain them properly and keep their engine running at peak performance. You have several benefits from using them.

The brand will dictate the type of loaner car that is available. Mercedes-Benz typically offers the GLA, GLE, and GLS models as Loaner vehicles. BMW offers the X7, X5 and X5 loaner cars. You can also request a test drive in the model of your choice. A valid driver's permit and the appropriate identification are required. Many dealerships offer the same model vehicle that you own.

Insurance

When you're looking to purchase a car, it is important that you have insurance in order to borrow a vehicle. Many dealers offer a loaner vehicle program to customers. Applicants need to know that they can apply as long their driver's license and proof of insurance are present. Some dealerships require proof of ownership, others don't. Local dealerships may have different age restrictions and insurance policies. Drivers over 25 years old are eligible for loaner cars. Some dealerships require the driver to have their license, while others require a driver to be 21 years of age or older. No matter your age, many policies that cover loaner cars require you to have a valid driver's license. This protects your rights.

Although loaner cars can be an excellent way to obtain a new vehicle it is crucial to ensure it is adequately insured. If you are involved in an accident, the dealership might be able offer additional coverage or primary coverage. If you are involved in an accident, your loaner car policy might also provide coverage for vehicle repairs.

How To

How to become an Automotive Technician

An automotive technician provides repair services and maintenance to vehicles. He/she can be found at auto shops, garages and service centers. He/she works with customers to repair their cars and trucks, ATVs or snowmobiles. An automotive technician must be able to diagnose problems and make repairs quickly, safely, accurately, and efficiently.

If you want to be an automotive technician, you need an associate degree from vocational school. After completing the program, he/she must pass ASE certification. ASE stands for American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Two sections make up the ASE certification examination. One section tests mechanical knowledge; the second section tests practical skills. To pass the test you must go to one of the authorized testing facilities. These locations are available online or through your local automotive dealer.

A candidate must pass the state exam after passing the test to become an automotive technician. It varies depending on the location of the applicant. Some states require that applicants attend a training class, while others allow them freedom to study at their own pace. Some states permit technicians to work immediately after they are granted their license. Others require them to wait at least six consecutive months before they can be licensed.

An applicant should apply to a local auto shop in order to start their career as an automotive technician. Once hired, most new employees start out working as apprentices. Apprenticeships typically last three years. A student will learn to repair basic things like changing oil, adjusting brakes or replacing tires. They also learn how spark plugs are cleaned and inspect engine compartments. Advanced repairs can be done by some students, including replacing shocks, installing air filters and repairing engines. Many schools offer classes during normal business hours. However, there are some schools that offer evening classes for those who need them.

Once a student is done with his/her apprenticeship he/she can become a master journeyman. Journeymen generally spend four- to five decades learning how to fix major systems like transmissions. They learn how to do complex repairs such as remanufacturing engines, rebuilding transmissives, and troubleshooting electronic components. Many employers prefer to hire Journeymen because they understand the job well.

A candidate who passes all the necessary exams and gets a license might be interested in opening his/her own business. According to Bureau of Labor Statistics (2010), almost 1.7million automotive mechanic jobs were on the market. The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicted that this number would rise by 18% from 2009 to 2020. If a candidate decides to open his/her own shop, he/she should prepare to invest many thousands of dollars in equipment and supplies.

The salary for an automotive technician depends on several factors, including the type of employer, location, education level, and experience. A jobless person could make an average of $20,000 annually. A high school diploma is all that's required to earn approximately $21,000 annually. An associate's degree earns approximately $24,000 annually. Technicians with bachelor's degrees earned about $27,000 per year. Master's degree holders make around $32,000 annually. A common trend is for salary increases to occur so a professional making less than $30,000 can reasonably expect to be earning $40,000 or more within a few years.
